چکیده

This paper studies a production system where products are produced continuously and whose specification limits are specified for screening inspection. This paper considers different costs associated with a quality characteristic that falls below a lower screening limit, or above an upper screening limit. Due to these different costs, the expected total profit will greatly depend on the process parameters, especially the process mean. Therefore, this paper develops a Markovian-based model for determining optimum process parameters in a single-stage production system. The proposed model was illustrated through a numerical example, and sensitivity analysis was performed.

Absorbing Markov Chain Models to Determine Optimum Process Target Levels in Production Systems with Rework and Scrapping

In this paper, absorbing Markov chain models are developed to determine the optimum process mean levels for both a single-stage and a serial two-stage production system in which items are inspected for conformity with their specification limits. When the value of the quality characteristic of an item falls below a lower limit, the item is scrapped. If it falls above an upper limit, the item is ...

Optimal Process Adjustment with Considering Variable Costs for Uni-variate and Multi-variate Production Process (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper studies a single-stage production system, two-stage production system where specification limits are designed for inspection. When quality characteristics fall below a lower threshold or above an upper threshold, a decision is made to rework or scrap the item. The target is to determine the optimum target for a process based on rework or scrap costs. In contrast to previous studies, ...

A Markovian approach to determining optimum process target levels for a multi-stage serial production system

Consider a production system where products are produced continuously and screened for conformance with their specification limits. When product performance falls below a lower specification limit or above an upper limit, a decision is made to rework or scrap the product. The majority of the process target models in the literature deal with a single-stage production system. In the real-world in...

Size, Fragmentation, and Inefficiency: A Single-Stage Stochastic Parametric Approach for Wheat Production in Iran

Although studies on the relation between size and efficiency are ample, studies on the relation between size, fragmentation, and efficiency are limited. It is the purpose of this study in which a single-stage stochastic parametric approach is used. For this purpose production of wheat in Iran is a good case because wheat is the core commodity of the Iranian agricultural system which is dominate...

Determination of optimum of production rate of network failure prone manufacturing systems with perishable items using discrete event simulation and Taguchi design of experiment

This paper, considers Network Failure Manufacturing System (NFPMS) and production control policy of unreliable multi-machines, multi-products with perishable items. The production control policy is based on the Hedging Point Policy (HPP). The important point in the simulation of this system is assumed that the customers who receive perishable item are placed in priority queue of the customers w...
